Every year, Girl’s Night Out chooses a beneficiary for our annual event held on the first Tuesday in May. This year our beneficiary is a wonderful organization located right in the city of Scranton, called The Arc of Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA).
A grassroots organization formed in 1955, The Arc of NEPA was formed by a group of individuals seeking public education for their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over the last 60+ years, the number of
parents, neighbors, and members of the business and professional communities have faced numerous challenges involving the advocating for children and adults disabilities in intellect and development.
Across the United States of America, an estimated 850 local The Arc chapters continue to be a strong voice for rights in education, community supports and public awareness, and progressive legislation. “The Arc is the largest organization dedicated to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.”
The Arc offers a variety of services for those with disabilities, including but not limited to: supported employment, recreational services and community residential. For more information about their services, click here.
By purchasing a ticket to our main event next weekend, you are helping all of individuals who can live a better and more fulfilling life through the services, support, love and care of The Arc. We take pride in what we do, to support organizations like this. Achieve with us.
